Concrete revetment Dutch island Ameland

SGS INTRON has performed a durability assessment on the 16 kilometer long concrete revetment on the shore of the Dutch island Ameland. The customer asked whether the revetment could still fulfill its function over the next 50 years.

A desk study to assess the material of the revetment and list possible degradation mechanisms was performed. Also an onsite visual inspection has been carried out. And samples from the revetment were taken which have been examined tested in the laboratory of SGS INTRON in Sittard. Amongst other things, the samples have been inspection in depth by means of microscopy to determine there condition.
